“That day in that house with our kids was another turning point for me as a designer and a mom. I came to a brand-new conclusion: ‘If all I’m doing is creating beautiful spaces, I’m failing. But if I’m creating beautiful spaces where families are thriving, then I’m really doing something.’ Doing that became my new calling.” –Joanna Gaines.
Gosh, What a smart woman. I just finished Chip & Joanna’s book, The Magnolia Story. I highly recommend it. I was inspired from a spiritual standpoint, mother & wife perspective, & a business standpoint.
I absolutely love our house. It has character. It is old. Hardwood floors. Pocket doors. Built-in shelves & benches. We have a side yard with lots of trees (perfect for photo opportunities).
I’m constantly re-arranging the furniture and decor in our house & I think I always will be, but… I think my focus is in the right place now. I want to create a space that my husband, children, & myself love. I want a functional space for my young family, but with a style that suites me. I want my husband to enjoy sharing this home with me & love coming back to it each night. I want to thrive in this home. Joanna Gaines… you’ve always inspired me – but now… now I am even more motivated to reach deep into my creative outlet & thrive as a family.
