I can’t even believe that Christmas is right around the corner. One thing I love to implement into my decor choices is a balance between magical and realistic. I love the magic that Santa & winter brings to the look, but I also love how raw a nativity set & the smell of fresh pine balance it out.
The number one focus in our home is that Christmas is a celebration of Jesus’ birth. That is why I chose to center our mantel around just that. I absolutely love the Willowtree Nativity set. Growing up, we always set Jesus in the nativity on Christmas morning. With this set Mary is holding Jesus. I was slightly disappointed until I recently was talking about it with a close friend of mine.. and she was praising how brilliant it is. How Mary’s love and motherly instincts are showcased in the simply act of her holding Jesus. And she is is so right!
Up the steps I placed my JOY sign that we made at my local MOPS group. I love how it reminds me of how much JOY that group brings to me! <3
Our stockings were handmade… by my Aunt Kim. You can see them in the background going up the stairs. You can tell mine has been around since 1985. I love her and greatly appreciate that she was able to make my family the same stocking to match!
Our tree is adapted to our family. The bottom third isn’t decorated. Arlynn loves to pull off the little ornaments… but it is Canon who messed with it the first day I put it up. He ate 4 ornaments. Ha! That’s the stage of life we are in right? I am totally fine to embrace it! Something I adore doing too as included our Christmas cards from family and friends onto our tree. (My apologies… life happened and we did NOT get cards ordered this year.)
